Are you a seasoned network professional passionate about designing and running large-scale, next-generation infrastructures? Emergent Technologies Inc., a veteran-owned technology solutions provider based in Herndon, VA, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Network Engineer to lead the design, deployment, and support of complex network infrastructures. This on-site position offers the opportunity to work on impactful projects supporting government and enterprise clients. We’re searching for a Network Engineering leader—with both hands-on chops and strategic vision—to join our team in Herndon, VA.
Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or related field (preferred)
- Minimum 11 years of relevant experience in network design, deployment, and operations
- Strong track record of delivering complex, high-availability networking solutions
Core Technical Competencies
- Expert understanding of network architecture, design, and implementation
- Deep experience with routing (EIGRP, BGP, ISIS) and switching protocols (STP, LACP, VTP)
- Hands-on with network automation (e.g. scripting, orchestration, APIs)
- Proven experience in cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Working knowledge of software-defined networking (SD‑WAN) technologies
- Experience deploying and operating MPLS networks
- Ability to rapidly learn and master new technologies and paradigms
Leadership, Communication & Documentation
- Ability to provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior engineers
- Skilled in authoring clear, comprehensive designs, implementation plans, and technical documentation
- Confident in presenting network designs and recommendations to review boards and senior stakeholders

- Self-driven, independent learner who thrives when mastering complex technical challenges through self-study and experimentation
- Excellent communicator who can bridge between technical and non-technical stakeholders
